New for 2019, this offsite event was created for the Bourbon Country Burn rider who is also a die-hard whiskey fan! We’ve built an evening tour that explores the heart of the Bluegrass and offers an authentic bourbon-country dining experience and a customized whiskey tasting featuring vintage pours form “dusty” bottles. If you’ve come to Kentucky seeking out a celebration of bourbon in all form, this is an event that you won’t want to miss.  Due to the limited size of the venues and intimate nature of the experiences being offered, we’re opening this up to only a handful of guests on Friday evening.

Your night will begin as you board a comfortable tour van and enjoy transportation out of the Kentucky Horse Park form the local experts and bourbon touring pros from Commonwealth Custom Tours. The first stop will take you to the award-winning Holly Hill Inn in Midway, Kentucky. The stunning and historic inn was built around 1845. Listed on National Register of Historic Places, the inn has been in continual operation as a restaurant since 1979. Today, Holly Hill is known for its fine dining, seasonal menu and as the first restaurant opened by noted Kentucky culinary whiz and James Beard Foundation Award Nominee Chef Ouita Michel.

The New York Times once called Holly Hill Inn "a gem of a restaurant" and when you pull up the shady lane, you’ll quickly see why. Upon arrival, you’ll be treated to a custom-made welcome cocktail while enjoying some of the history and gorgeous features of the century’s old inn. Then enjoy a prefix meal including appetizer, dessert and a well-stocked bourbon bar and wine list that’s second to none in Woodford County. (Vegetarian Options available)

From there, you’ll travel to downtown Lexington to visit what may be the most unique liquor store in the country today: Justins’ House Of Bourbon. The House Of Bourbon opened just last year and makes use of a new Kentucky law that, for the first time, allows retailers to sell vintage, unopened bottles of bourbon. The result is a collection of bottles ranging from a bottling date of last month to over a hundred years ago! The House Of Bourbon is part museum, part store with a jaw-dropping collection of labels…and just about every bottle is for sale. Top it off with an incredibly knowledgeable staff who possess volumes of whiskey information and add an on-site bourbon bar with bottles dating back to the 1960’s, and you’ve got a truly one-of-a-kind store.

As part of the experience, our guests will enjoy a tour of the store, plenty of opportunity to shop for bottles and a special visit to a section of the store that, well, let’s just say you won’t find this room on any building blueprints. We don’t want to say too much, but during this time you’ll sit and sip with one of Justins’ amazing, passionate hosts who will guide you through a tasting of four whiskey. Each of which comes from a distillery has long since discontinued that brand or a special store picks/limited edition release that can’t be found anywhere! Bring your curiosity, your questions and an eager whiskey palette because your time at The House Of Bourbon will be full of bottles the even the biggest bourbon fanatic has never tasted…and perhaps has never even seen!
