Think YOU know bourbon? Then put your palette to the test on Friday evening with a blind tasting of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys! We provide the bourbon...you bring your keen sense of taste and an adventurous spirit.
Steve Coomes, Executive Bourbon Steward, will lead you on a journey to discover what makes each of these pours unique while keeping the name behind the bottle a secret until the very last minute. Each pour will feature a different mashbill, a different aging process and different distilling technique in a session that’s guaranteed to be full of debate, strong opinions and delicious spirits!
If you’re new to bourbon, this is a great way to get your feet wet in the world of whiskey. We’ll end the night with some voting to determine everyone’s favorite and also see if any bourbon sleuth can deduce the identity of our mystery pours!
For 30 years, Bourbon Host & Whiskey Expert Steve Coomes has covered every aspect of restaurants and bourbon for leading magazines and websites. Since 2015, Steve has conducted countless bourbon tastings both large (150 people at a whiskey event) and small (a lovely married couple) for clients across the country since 2015. Steve has also pioneered the pairing of whiskey with country hams --America’s answer to prosciutto and serrano!

If bourbon buzz could be measured in ounces, the recent buzz around Barrell Craft Spirits would create enough whiskey to fill an entire liquor store. The Louisville based bourbon company opened their doors less than a decade ago and already has become one of the most award winning brands of the last few years.
The Burn is thrilled to welcome Barrell Craft Spirits to the VIP Tasting Tent for the very first time. Barrell’s Chief Whiskey Scientist Tripp Stimson will be on hand to lead this tasting. Trip will share samples from a number of different products - all which feature their unique blending style - and talk through the fascinating history and stories behind the craft.
We’ve invited one of the fastest growing and most unique whiskey brands to Bourbon Base Camp for a one-of-a-kind tasting experience. The Burn Team knows first hand that Barrell’s products are unique, head-turning and often amazing. But don’t rely on our word. Barrel Craft Spirits has won dozens of industry awards and accolades in recent years, including the honor of Best Bourbon at the iconic San Francisco World Spirits Competition TWICE in 2017 and again in 2020.
